The Sad reality of Marriage
Dissolution |
Divorce is, without question, the most traumatic experience most people
will have, short of dying. Some will argue it is the most period.
Women and Men invest a lot more than money in the significant relationships
of their lives. The emotion, dreams, love that lead to marriage, often make
dissolving the union almost impossible. Everyone feels used. Everyone feels
betrayed. Everyone feels lied to. You are not alone.
Sadly, so, too does almost everyone try to take out these negative emotions
on their soon-to-be-ex spouse. Many people simply have trouble letting go
of the bad feelings, and dealing with the new realities of their lives.
We have to tell you:
· In just about every case, we can tell you what the court is going
to order for child custody, child support, alimony and property distribution.
· In just about every case, if you are the reason the case is going
to court, you are likely going to be the one footing the bill.
· In just about every case, the more you want to fight, the more you
will pay us.
As your lawyers, we need you to know that the course which is best for your
family and peace of mind, is also the best legal strategy. You need to be
reasonable.
Of course, that doesn't mean you should roll over and play dead, either.
So here are some guidelines to what types of behavior the courts will reward,
annd which the courts will punish. |

Favored
Put your children first! Try to make them the focus of your efforts. Ask
for things that benefit them not you!
Don't be the bad guy: try to work out disputes without going to court. Bend!
Obey the court. If you cannot that means, you cannot, not, "it's
inconvenient," get to your lawyer early and ask for help.
Conclusion:
|
Disfavored
Do not treat your children as your own property. They have the right to parenting
from both of you, no matter how much you hate your spouse.
Do not talk down your ex, or try to find loopholes to avoid visitation. We
are the lawyers, not you.
In short, the key is good faith: treat your ex the way you want to be treated.
Pursue alternative methods of resolving disputes. Talk really talk
to your spouse. And if all else fails, give us a call.
