| FEES
Lawyers don't work for free, and our stock in trade is our time: so
we will charge for our services, just like Doctors or Hair Stylists.
| We never charge for the initial
consultation. |
We will meet, discuss your case and advise how we can help, and how much
it will cost.
In cases where we are going to be able to recover money for you, we charge
on a contingent fee basis. That means that, if we don't recover any
money for you, we don't charge a fee. The amount of the fee we charge is
competitive with other lawyers in this area, and may vary a bit depending
on the type of case. In order to keep our prospective clients as informed
as possible, our standard contingent fee agreement is available to review
here.
In cases where it is unlikely money will be recovered -- criminal, domestic,
some types of civil litigation -- we charge on an hourly basis, and
we usually will work out a flat fee arrangement with you.
Sometimes we will agree the you will pay us a retainer. In every
case when you pay us a retainer, that sum of money will be deemed to be earned
and nonrefundable, which just means that we have the right to use the funds
immediately. Should your case terminate unexpectedly, the fee may be
reduced and part refunded to you. |
| Special Fees |
In certain cases, fees are dictated by law: workers comp, social security,
bankruptcy, minor settlements and others. We will always comply with
the appropriate law.
|
| Costs |
In every case, we are required to advise that costs -- things like filing
fees, witness expenses, investigation charges and the like -- are your
responsibility and you will have to pay those. Every lawyer is required to
tell you this, so beware of anyone who
doesn't.
Call us, we will be happy to discuss our
fees. |
