Greetings Friends. I was once Commandant of Cadets at the Spokane Squadron when they met at Caukins Field out on North Division. Bill Toth is the only one I remember now. I then moved to Okanogan as a teacher, and orginized a unit here and was appointed as East Side Commandant of Cadets, plus many more jobs... Flew lots of missions into the cascades. At that I was the only Senior Observer in the State... Would be interested in hearing about what you are doing now. I notice the new patch on the top of your page, nice... I am a former member of your squadron. I was a member during my Junior High and High School years, in Spokane, from 1962-1967. You gave me the foundation I needed to get through my teenage years successfully, and to prepare for my years as a United States Woman Marine. I loved Civil Air Patrol and the friends that I made there. I am now a school teacher in Spokane, at Franklin Elementary School, on the South Hill. I have severl boys and girls who are 5th and 6th graders, who are very interested in Civil Air Patrol. However, they were heart broken to find out that they would have to be 12 years old to join...I am writing to find out if there is a junior group, or if we could perhaps start one of our own. We have parents who take part in many activities, and I would be more than willing to be the advisor. Please contact me at your convenience...but please hurry, as they are going to drive me crazy if I don't find out something soon. These are very responsible 5th and 6th graders, and I highly recommend them for this type of program. Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter. Good page. But your info on some of the national special activities is wrong. PJOC (Basic) is a ONE week course and has no medical training involved. The actual course name is Pararesuce Orentation Course. PJ is only an abbreviation for "Pararescue" and is not included in the course name. Just thought you would like to know.

ESTA was so awesome, our basic's behaved well, and I thought that I have never had so much fun at any activity. I think we still have some 'bugs' to work out of our system, but not everything can be perfect, but I still think that everyone did a wonderful job of whatever they were supposed to do. I would like to personally thank C/2lt Joy Chandler for making me a better leader. The experience I gained at the 1997 washington wing encampment ( cascade falcon 2 ). helped me to strive towards perfection, and to set myself to be a good example to cadets who are under my command. I also recently attended an encampment, as a flight commander, and I now realize the dedication it takes to be in charge of a unit comprized of complete strangers, and make them excel to excellence. the things I learned at my encampment, gave me the ability to lead my cadets to achieving honor flight, and I owe it to C/Lt Chandler. Thank You.
